First Aid for Mental Health

A one-day training First Aid for Mental Health.

Why take this course?

Mental health is always in the headlines – and there’s a good reason for that:  Anyone can be affected by a mental health condition! Yes – nobody is immune from poor mental health.  We can have a mental health condition ourselves, or we may be trying to help a family member, friend or colleague.

If you’ve ever wanted to understand Mental Health better, or wanted to be able to help when you see someone is suffering – then this course is suitable for you to help you gain an understanding and to know what to do as the first point of aid and support (first aider).

Help within the workplace

It will help employers to support positive mental health culture, and will provide learners with a broad knowledge of the most common mental health conditions, along with the skills to be able to act if and when someone needs help or support.

A great qualification to hold

Learners undertaking this course will be considered First Aiders for Mental Health and be a point of contact within the workplace to help and support those with a suspected mental health condition.

In addition to getting a broad knowledge of signs and symptoms the course also introduces the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan which allows learners to provide their peers with comprehensive guidance and support for suspected mental health conditions. Learners will be able to provide signposting to professional help and support that person whilst they are receiving professional assistance.

This course also covers the effects of drugs and alcohol and provides learners with the skills and knowledge to assist employers in implementing a positive mental health culture to support employees within a workplace.

Syllabus

A range of subjects are covered including:
